The Graduate University Mathematics and Computer Science Education study programme ends with passing all exams and writing a master thesis. The thesis includes the research of existing literature on a given theme, the illustration of the ability to apply gained knowledge and skills to specific tasks or real problems, and the presentation of the studied problem.

The theme for the master thesis must be related with Graduate University Mathematics and Compiuters Science Education study programme. Students may, at the proposal of a teacher, write the thesis related to professional or scientific research which is being conducted at the Department of Mathematics. If a student has made one or more papers in the courses from Graduate University Mathematics and Compiuters Science Education study programme, which in its content and scope correspond to the master thesis, this work may be accepted as the master thesis. If the student has made an invention, technical improvement etc, with the content coresponding to the master thesis, such work can be accepted as the master thesis as well.

The rules of graduation, the rights and obligations of students, mentors, commissions and other issues related to master thesis at the Graduate University Mathematics and Computer Science Education study programme are regulated by the Ordinance on Graduate Studies issued by the Council of the Mathematics Department.
