3rd Place at the International PlantCLEF 2025 Competition on the Kaggle Platform

We are pleased to announce that our PhD student, Tomislav Prusina, together with his international team Chlorophyll Crew (Hanna Herasimchyk, Robin Labryga, University of Hamburg), has won third place at the prestigious international competition PlantCLEF 2025, hosted on the Kaggle platform.

The competition brought together numerous researchers from around the world in the field of computer vision, with a strong focus on automated plant species recognition based on visual and contextual data. Participants were tasked with developing systems capable of identifying multiple plant species in complex quadrat images, which presented a highly demanding research and engineering challenge.

The Chlorophyll Crew team distinguished itself through innovative solutions, high model accuracy, and robust data processing, earning a well-deserved spot on the winners’ podium.

PlantCLEF 2025 is part of two internationally recognized scientific events:

  • FGVC12 workshop within the CVPR 2025 conference, one of the world’s most prestigious computer vision conferences.
  • LifeCLEF 2025 lab held as part of the CLEF 2025 conference, dedicated to evaluating and advancing methods for multimodal information retrieval and processing.

We thank Tomislav and the entire team for their outstanding effort, enthusiasm, and dedication! We congratulate them on this remarkable achievement and wish them many more successes in the future.
