Monograph of the School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics

To mark the 25th anniversary of its founding, the School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics has prepared the monograph 25 Years Later, offering a concise yet comprehensive overview of the institution’s development from its beginnings to the present day. Over the past quarter century, the School has grown into one of the leading centers for higher education and research in applied mathematics and computer science in eastern Croatia.

The monograph highlights the expansion of study programs, the steady growth in student and staff numbers, and the strengthening of scientific and professional activities. A significant milestone occurred in 2022 when the former Department of Mathematics was transformed into the School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics, further reinforcing the institution’s academic and societal role.

The publication emphasizes key factors behind the School’s success: the increasing number of professors and associates, the growing number of graduates, and their high employability, which reflects the quality and relevance of the study programs in relation to labor market needs. Scientific research plays a central role at the School, with a strong focus on applied mathematics, statistics, and computing.

The monograph is organized into several thematic sections covering the institution’s history, research and professional work, projects, international cooperation, and the richness of student life. Special attention is given to the School’s collaboration with industry, the organization of seminars and conferences, the publication of scientific papers, and efforts to inspire young people in the fields of mathematics and computer science.

This monograph is intended for current and future students, staff, collaborators, and all those interested in the role of mathematics and informatics in modern society. It serves as a valuable record of the growth, development, and future direction of a modern, dynamic, and socially responsible institution of higher education.
