Welcome to the new academic year! We wish you a successful start and continued success and satisfaction throughout your studies. Classes for all undergraduate students will begin on Monday, October 5, 2026, according to the schedule. In particular, the Dean’s Welcome Session for first-year undergraduate students will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026, in Lecture Hall 2, starting at 9:00 a.m. Following the welcome session, classes will be held according to the schedule. Classes for graduate students will begin on October 12, 2026, according to the schedule.

Economic Council Backs Reform of Undergraduate Study Programs

On July 15, 2026, the School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics held a session of its Economic Council at which the planned changes to the undergraduate study programs were presented. Representatives of the business community took part in a productive discussion and expressed strong support for the proposed direction of the reform. The reform thoroughly restructures the two existing undergraduate programs in order to align them more closely with the needs of the labor market and with contemporary technological trends, above all in the field of artificial intelligence.

Mathematical Communications Journal Ranked in the Q1 Quartile According to the 2025 Journal Citation Reports

According to the latest data from the 2025 Journal Citation Reports (JCR), the scientific journal Mathematical Communications, published by the School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, has been ranked in the Q1 quartile in the Mathematics category. The journal achieved a Journal Impact Factor of 1.2 and was ranked 115th among 492 journals in this category.

Our Students’ Performance at the Vojtěch Jarník International Mathematical Competition

In April, the 33rd edition of the international competition Vojtěch Jarník International Mathematical Competition was held, bringing together nearly one hundred participants from various countries. Among them were students from our Faculty, who achieved notable results.

Success of Our Students at the International Mathematics Competition IYMC

This week, the international mathematics competition “International Youth Math Challenge” was concluded. The competition is intended for high school and university students from all around the world. Schools and universities from more than 100 countries participated, placing it among the larger international competitions of this kind.

The Mathematical Colloquium in the regular schedule on Thursdays at 2:00 PM is organized by the School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics in collaboration with the Association of Mathematicians Osijek.

MC journal

Mathematical Communications is published by the School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics in cooperation with the Osijek Mathematical Society. The journal was initiated in 1996.

Optimization and Applications Seminar

The Optimization and Applications Seminar was launched in 2008 and is held within the framework of the Joint Postgraduate Doctoral Study Program in Mathematics.

Osijek mathematical gazette

The Osijek Mathematical Gazette is the official publication of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics and the Association of Mathematicians Osijek.

Statistical seminar

The Statistical Seminar of the School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics was established in November 2017 with the intention of presenting various topics in applied and mathematical statistics.
