Our students at CERC 2025

At the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Wroclaw in Poland, the Central European Regional Contest (CERC) of the ICPC programming competition was held from December 5 to 7, 2025. A total of 70 teams from 31 universities from eight Central European countries participated: Austria, Czechia, Croatia, Latvia, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and Slovenia.

Preparations for International Mathematics Competitions

At the beginning of the new academic year, a special group was formed at Mathos for students interested in participating in international mathematics competitions. The aim of this initiative is to strengthen students’ problem-solving skills and to introduce them to advanced techniques and strategies necessary for success in top-level competitions.

Framework for the Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools at mathos

The Council of the School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics (mathos) has adopted the Framework for the Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools at the School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics. The Framework promotes ethical, responsible, and transparent application of AI technologies in accordance with academic and research standards. It defines acceptable and unacceptable uses of AI tools, outlines responsibilities of authors, and establishes principles of good practice.

New HRZZ Projects at the School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics

The School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics has achieved significant success in the Croatian Science Foundation calls IP-2025-02 and UIP-2025-02, in which two new projects have been approved: IP-2025-02 – Research Project “Optimization of Parameter-Dependent Systems with Applications”, Principal Investigator: Prof. Zoran Tomljanović and UIP-2025-02 – Installation Research Project “Development of Hyperheuristics for a Heterogeneous-Machine Environment with Additional Resources”, Principal Investigator: Prof. Mateja Đumić.

3rd Place at the International PlantCLEF 2025 Competition on the Kaggle Platform

Veliko nam je zadovoljstvo objaviti da je naš asistent Tomislav Prusina, zajedno sa svojim internacionalnim timom Chlorophyll Crew (Hanna Herasimchyk, Robin Labryga, University of Hamburg), osvojio treće mjesto na prestižnom međunarodnom natjecanju PlantCLEF 2025, održanom na platformi Kaggle.

The Mathematical Colloquium in the regular schedule on Thursdays at 2:00 PM is organized by the School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics in collaboration with the Association of Mathematicians Osijek.

Mathematical Communications is published by the School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics in cooperation with the Osijek Mathematical Society. The journal was initiated in 1996.

Optimization and Applications Seminar

The Optimization and Applications Seminar was launched in 2008 and is held within the framework of the Joint Postgraduate Doctoral Study Program in Mathematics.
